~NOTES & LINKS~

(Updated by Mr. Davis on 06/02/08)

Hello!

Keep checking this site for info about upcoming events and recaps of work we've done.

~NWEA Spring Testing~

The DWs recently completed their spring NWEA testing. Like last fall, the data from these assessments provides helpful info that can be used to enhance instruction. Thanks to all the DWs for doing your best on these tests!

~Atlantic Salmon~

During the winter, our friend from the Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery delivered our fertilized salmon eggs! Each 7th grade team maintained a temperature controlled fish tank for housing the eggs. Gradually, we raised the temperature. Eventually, the tiny fry began to hatch from the eggs. On Thursday, May 22, we released over 200 young salmon into the Sheepscot River!

~Poetry~

DW students spent time in December and January reading and writing poetry. Among our favorites was New England poet, Robert Frost. To see some of our free verse poems, click on the link below.

National Guard Adventure Program

7th grade students began this multiweek program in January. Our guests visited the class once a week with an emphasis on self esteem and healthy choices. This spring, it was time for us to visit the National Guard facility in Gardiner. On Wed., 5/28, the entire 7th grade experienced the program's hands-on low ropes course!

~Elections~

Having learned a ton about the electoral process and even participating in our own DW Caucuses, students used their iBooks to create comic strips sharing what they've learned. You can view a sample electoral process comic created by a DW student by clicking on the following link.
