Portraits 'n Goo

Student self-portraits using traditional drawing techniques and technology highlight this unit. Students creatively express their feelings and ideas through a self-portrait, which touches on many of the elements and principles of art. Once completed, the students modify their portraits into abstract creations using the computer program Super Goo. Both the original and altered portraits are displayed together and used for discussion.

Introduced in 1992 by the Center for Educational Services, SEED is one of over twenty affiliates of a national network inspired by The Teachers Network. SEED supports learning how to use technology to achieve Maine's Learning Results, through an unusual professional development opportunity - where teachers teach teachers. SEED stands for Spreading Educator to Educator Developments. This program is funded through The United States Department of Education Technology Challenge Grant. SEED is presently working with the MLTI (Maine Learning Technology Initiative) to offer ongoing technology training opportunities around the state. SEED provides a unique professional development network for teachers who want to integrate technology into their classrooms.
